Support WYD
You can support WYD Krakow and help make sure everything goes smoothly in more ways than you think. Any sort of help is more than welcome.
The entire event that is WYD Krakow will be a spiritual and religious gathering organized around Pope Francis’ papal visit to Krakow that will bring with it over a million pilgrims and more than 10,000 members of the clergy. The numbers are incredible and the undertaking is almost difficult to imagine.
For Krakow, specifically the WYD Organizing Committee, the most important task at hand is to make sure each and every pilgrim will be safe, well informed, and as will need to be the case for a large portion of the pilgrims, well fed and accommodated!
The liturgical preparations will require some effort when it comes to aesthetics and rehearsals. The Youth Festival on the other hand, will need to schedule live performances and set up lighting, the stages, and equipment.
The WYD Organizing Committee is covering the costs of everything mentioned above and more. God willing, WYD will be an absolute success, but the burden rests on all of us as well. That is why your generosity and contribution to WYD will make all the difference, and no, we don’t necessarily mean financially although that is part of it.

Open your lovely home to a pilgrim in need.
The majority of pilgrims participating in WYD will be staying at the homes of families and parishioners. This is a great solution to the accommodation issue as it lets the pilgrims get to know a little bit more about Poland and its citizens. When it comes to support, it doesn’t get any better than this. WYD and its less fortunate participants

Ease of access for the physically disabled
Since there will be handicapped individuals among the pilgrims, we want to eliminate any barriers standing in the way of full participation. Vehicles, elevators, signs and posts, along with sign language interpreters are among the many ways to make sure the physically disabled have access to all the WYD events.

Organizing the Liturgy
A liturgical event on such a grand scale as this has never taken place in Poland before. We can expect as many as 2 million pilgrims meaning as much as 5 million communion wafers may be distributed.

Liturgical garments
Members of the clergy from all around the world will be accompanying the youth to Krakow. They will be wearing chasubles designed especially for WYD Krakow 2016 as each WYD has had its own unique design. Since several thousand priests and close to a thousand bishops and cardinals will arrive, the chasubles are being sewn and measured as we speak.

Sanitation and safety
Pumps, showers, basins, and of course portable toilets will be deployed around key locations. Barricades will also be set up along the main routes where Pope Francis is expected to be seen. While these investments are not that impressive, they are nevertheless essential when taking in so many pilgrims from around the world.

Cultural events
A number of cultural events are scheduled during WYD Krakow 2016. Young artists taking part in the Youth Festival will be performing free of charge yet they still need time and assistance in setting up equipment and preparing the stages. Large outdoor displays will also be used.

The Błonia Field altar
Pope Francis’ reception ceremony and Holy Mass and Stations of the Cross initiating WYD will be held at Błonia Park. The construction of the altar will require as much effort as building materials. In order to bring together as many people as possible, outdoor displays and speakers will be set up in order to reach pilgrims who will find themselves on the outskirts of Błonia Field.

The altar at Brzegi-Campus Misericordia
The meeting held between Pope Francis and the youth will take place in Brzegi. This spectacular event will be watched by people from all across the world via internet and television. If you were to financially support the work being done at Campus Misericordia, then it’s safe to say you’re lending a helping hand as much as the next person.

Supporting the volunteers
Long term volunteers have already been putting in a lot of work preparing for WYD. By the time WYD gets started, we will have 20,000 volunteers, 3,000 of those being international volunteers. Their help is crucial, which is why organizers will not only be providing housing, meals, and training, but also sightseeing and opportunities to become more familiar with Poland.
