PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR THE LAITY
The Pope entrusted the development and organisation of World Youth Day to the Pontifical Council for the Laity. Its main task is to guarantee fidelity to the original vision of Word Youth Day in accordance with the intentions of the Holy Father. The Pontifical Council for the Laity, especially its Youth Section, coordinates the whole process of preparation and fosters the indispensable relationship between the Organizing Committee of the local Church and the Holy See.
ARCHDIOCESE OF KRAKOW
The organizer of World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow is the Archdiocese of Krakow.
Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
To fully realize WYD preparations in a given place (in organizational-logistical and spiritual terms), there is a Local Organizing Committee, which works together with the Pontifical Council for the Laity. The Local Committee is appointed after the given WYD's location is announced, and it works over the course of the preparations and time of WYD in that place. It is made up of representatives of the host diocese and of the Episcopal Conference of the given country, which is led by the bishop of the place. In Krakow, the WYD Organizing Committee has taken on the following structure:
